By: Donna Metallic, RID I just got back from an incredible trip to London with my family. During our visit to one of the most beautiful churches in all of Europe, St. Paul’s Cathedral there was the most beautiful environmental art installation that I would like to share with you! The Blue Trees in London created by Australian artist, Konstantin Dimopoulos with independent charity Trees for Cities, which was a part of the City of London Festival. This art installation took the existing tree trunks and painted them a vibrant blue…well how perfect would that be for Indianapolis! The artist used an environmentally friendly colorant that would not harm the tree or any insect that might call the tree its home. The contrast of the blue against the green leaves was so moving, to feel the trees living life among the hustle and bustle of one of the busiest squares in all of London. It brought peace into the urban environment! This could, not only raise awareness on the importance of trees in our urban environment, but it would show a little Blue Pride for our Colts and Pacers. I think if we started with the trees around the Circle, it would look so cool! If you think it would be a good idea to bring Konstantin Dimopoulos to Indianapolis so he can do an installation here comment and especially if you know someone in the City Government that could help us get this started in our City send me their contact information.
