Dear i.d.o. Incorporated Friends; As the year comes to a close and a new year begins, we want to send a BIG thank you for allowing us to be a part of your business and organizations. We have been busy supporting many client projects this year. Beyond that our team has supported many other business organizations and non-profits in Indiana and here are a few highlights of our efforts in 2010. •The entire i.d.o. team worked successfully to support the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis by providing In-Kind services to their branch locations throughout central Indiana; •i.d.o. became involved in the ACE Mentor Program. http://www.acementor.org i.d.o. associate Donna Metallic is currently working with other professionals in the Architectural, Construction and Engineering industries to mentor local high school students in the building trades. ACE has teamed up with the 2012 Superbowl Committee for their 2010-11 ACE project. •As a member of Architecture for Humanity, Janet Thomas, took part in AFH’s 2nd annual PARKing Day. Architecture for Humanity, a network of dedicated professionals, students and the public promoting a platform for collaboration and awareness to realize tangible help for communities on a local and global level through sustainable design. 2010 projects included design assistance for the Indy Food Co-op’s Pogue’s Run Grocer; PARK DAY raising global awareness of urban green space and building the Pocket Park for the Community Outreach Center of Indianapolis. •Donna and Amanda Medlen are currently working on a special project for IIDA’s (International Interior Design Association) Samantha’s House Foundation. Samantha’s House Foundation is an organization that helps seriously injured people in Central Indiana improve their home life to make their everyday life just a little easier. •Associate Julie Knight and her family was a “Host Family” to a German exchange student from August 2009 thru July 2010. The Knight’s, with one at Indiana University and the other at the Naval Academy were just not ready to be empty nesters! •In April of 2010, i.d.o. sponsored an Interior Designer from Netherlands, Carolien Bacrt, who shadowed our associates. Carolien’s visit to the US was sponsored by the Franklin Rotary GSE Team. We are also proud to report that we are communicating and keeping up with Carolien and her career through Facebook! •Janet and Donna spent an afternoon helping to build great futures for Boys and Girls. In the fall the A&D Community of Indianapolis joined the Boys and Girls Club at the Lilly Unit. “Sands of Time” was the theme for the i.d.o. team…..of course we educated the kids on the importance of recycling and how the bottles were “repurposed” into other products. A little and receive the true rainbow of a child’s smile. •Lee Boyland and her husband Matt volunteered along with Brandon Wilhelm, the spouse of another i.d.o. associate, for a Rebuilding Together Indianapolis. The project on April 24th in Haughville involved cleaning up homes, doing repairs, and landscaping. •Lee, a graduate of Ball State University, also represented IIDC (Indiana Interior Design Coalition) at ASID’s annual Design Interaction Day at Ball State University in February this past year and participated in an Interior Design Roundtables for students at Ball State. In 2011 we are gearing up to do even more, including: •Jill will continue to serve on the IUPUI Interior Design and Architectural Technology Industry Advisory Board as Co-Chair position and as a member of the IUPUI, School of Engineering’s DIAC or Deans Industry Advisory Council. •Gary Pino and Donna will be representing i.d.o. on the Indianapolis Zoo’s Golfari committee this year.
