By: Lee Boyland Each year in central Indiana, a wonderful organization called Samantha’s House provides a new or remodeled home for a deserving family with a special needs child. All of this is made possible through the donation of time, money, and complimentary design services from the community at large. Sponsors, contractors, designers and others pull together to make an accessible home a reality! IDO has been involved in years past, and was involved this year as well. My fellow IDO associate and colleague, Tony White and I, worked with Kate Horton of Cripe Architects + Engineers and Sue Stawick of COE to create a home office for Amy, the mother of Jackson Miller, this year’s recipient. The fruits of our labor personally provided me with a truly rewarding and heart-warming experience … What other organizations in the design industry or the industry in which you work in are giving back to the community? See above for a few panoramic photos of the completed home office. Visit the Samantha’s House website to learn more about the organization, and here’s a video of Jackson Miller and his story.
