August Community Spotlight: Indy Maven & Maven Space

Fun Fact: IDO has been a Certified Women-Owned Business (WBE) for over 21 years. Because of this certification on a national, state, and city level, we are always seeking out and supporting other businesses established by fierce females in our community. When we heard of Indy Maven and Maven Space, we were intrigued. Indy Maven was launched in October 2019 by founders Leslie Bailey and Amanda Kingsbury. They produce lifestyle content about fascinating women, captivating events, and interesting businesses to connect to in the Central Indiana community. Essentially, Indy Maven is “that friend” who’s always in the know, has all the best recommendations from restaurants to salons, and is connected to e-v-e-r-y-o-n-e. But really, Indy Maven is a community of highly engaged “Mavens” (women) who want to connect with other women, support/be supported by other women, and make an impact in Indianapolis and the surrounding areas. Started by Mavens. Run by Mavens. Created for Mavens!

Indy Maven’s mission is to create a community for like-minded women and strive to uplift all women’s voices. Their core values are to be strong, smart, and compassionate and believe all women can care equally about fashion and families. About business and health. About professional lives and private pursuits and being both unabashedly successful and unendingly charitable. Indy Maven is a membership-based community where members can build networks of resources, unlock perks from local businesses, and access free monthly meetups with others in the community. You can also sign up for their free newsletter that drops to over 5,000 subscribers each Thursday.

So let’s switch gears but stay in the Maven brand for a minute. The next adventure for Indy Maven co-founder and Editor-in-chief Leslie Bailey happened in March of 2020. She was touring real estate in downtown Indy and found herself standing in the middle of what, less than a year later, would become Maven Space. Have you ever wanted a space where you can go drink boundless cups of coffee or tea, take an educational class about how to build your brand on a budget, get your fitness on and then work on a project deadline from a space that is inviting, on-trend, and designed just for women? Well, look no further. Her idea of a social club meets a co-working space opened in June 2022.

This 15,000-sq. ft space, located in the historic Gibson building on Capitol Avenue, is a gathering place for bold women, Mavens, to be inspired, recharge, collaborate, and connect with other Mavens. It was designed to offer amenities beyond any other space in the area and bring in all of the design trends we love to see as interior designers. Some of those amenities are educational programming and must-attend events, a gym and wellness center with private & group classes, high-speed Wi-fi, a mother’s room presented by The Milk Bank, a podcast and video studio presented by Share Your Genius, bookable private and community spaces, a lending library, photo services including headshots, hot desk bar – with dual monitors, café by Fork + Function and fully stocked kitchenette. This open floor plan provides many cozy corners and soft seating areas where natural light is abundantly overflowing with biophilia presented by The Botanical Bar (another W/XBE in Indy). They house one of our favorite flexible workplace products called the ROOM Phone Booth. This workspace product is built with ventilation fans, sound insulation, power outlets, an ethernet port, a motion sensor, and a built-in desk for a cozy, soundproof workspace. Maven Space also showcases local artists on their gallery walls and provides quaint quiet zones for more concentrated work. If you could imagine your ideal workspace, think Maven Space!

Maven Space is also a membership-based community where members get access to amenities and programming, a members-only digital platform, and special perks and discounts alongside other like-minded women. Day passes are also available as well as event space rental for meetings and other private special occasions.

**If you are curious about Maven Space and want to check them out for free, Tuesday, August 9th from 9-5p they offering a FREE event for all non-members (and members) in celebration of International Coworking Day.
