By: Donna Metallic We really are in Spring and the color BLUE varies during this time of year every day, so I decided to put together a little color theory on the shades of BLUE. There are things that we each look forward to, whether it’s a family vacation to the beach, a long weekend at the lake, or just a walk outside and the color blue surrounds us each and every day – no matter the activity! Light and Atmospheric Pale blues are often associated with nostalgia and creativity. Think back to your favorite family memory about time spent with your toes buried in the sand reading your favorite book or tossing a bean bag for a cool game of corn hole on the beach. This blue can provide a much needed break and breath of fresh air, and is an excellent color to brighten up any room with a peaceful tone. Fresh and Calming Sky blues are some of the most calming colors, and they help promote a healing nature for resiliency against future obstacles. Sky blue is best known to reduce stress – just think of how relaxed you are when lying on your back looking up at a crystal blue sky dotted with clouds. This color is best used in high-energy spaces where a lot of people tend to gather. Bright and Bold Due to their calming, grounded qualities, bright blues are great to incorporate into an already colorful space. These blues are a non-threatening and won’t compete, such as a vibrant orange or green would. Also, this blue is the color of determination and ambition to strive for great things in life – what better way to utilize the effects of this great color than in your bedroom and waking up to it every morning feeling ready to take on the world! Strong and Rigid Dark blues are seen as conservative and give off an air of being calm, cool and collected. Use this confident color when wishing to achieve a regal and sophisticated design. The deep blue creates a grounded focal point and a much needed break for your eyes to rest on as they take on the room. BLUE is calm, clean, confident and the least controversial of any color, so any quality of blue will be a fantastic addition to your space! What shade of Blue do you prefer? I am always interested in talking about color and how it impacts an environment, so just send me a note at firstname.lastname@example.org and we can discuss color theory!
