High Design McDonald’s

High Design McDonald’s

I recently read an interesting article about some highly designed McDonald’s in France.  The designer, Patrick Norguet, was trying to get back to McDonald’s more traditional roots and design with the family in mind.  Although this article received some pretty harsh feedback, I personally think it is a great space!  Being a young parent myself, I think of it more in terms of an easy, inexpensive quick meal that serves as a little treat/”retreat” with the family (especially if you have young toddlers and don’t have a lot of time to keep them still!) all the while enjoying the atmosphere of a very nicely design and well thought out space.   Also, when reading through this article, I though of the single parents who already have a lot to juggle.  There are booth spaces within these restaurants that allow for the family to sit down and order from terminals, where the food, in turn will be brought to their table. There are a lot of other great aspects of this space such as mixed use seating and design features based upon improving acoustics and ambiance through the space to make the experience more enjoyable. What are your thoughts about this design and do you think that more restaurants will use this model? Images courtesy of and are a copyright of © Dezeen Limited 2006-2010
