IIDA Indiana Design Collide Fashion Show

By Lindsay Ferro & Yvonne Rush This past Friday IDO participated in the IIDA Indiana Avant Garb Fashion Show at the Crane Bay Event Center. Local designers partnered with commercial sponsors to create extravagant outfits constructed mainly from their sponsor’s product, while also representing a specific theme. This year’s theme was “Design Collide,” combining a color and personality that was chosen during the Launch Party for the Show. The IDO team, with the wonderful help of Kelli Detty from Architex, assembled a fun ensemble based on the color “Romanesque Grape” and the personality “upbeat.” Inspired by the people and things that make us happiest the outfit truly reflected our IDO team: a dancing family of families. Full of color and the silliest of emoticons, along with a great smile for our own model, Lee Boyland, it was certainly the most “upbeat” garment in the show. 😉 To help the teams convey their concept before the models strutted their stuff on the stage, each team had a concept video presenting their inspiration and design process. With contributions from many of our staff at IDO, we put together our own dance video to show what inspired our upbeat theme! See below to read our concept and watch our video submission: [vimeo]https://vimeo.com/155431858[/vimeo] Concept: “In a society filled with everyday stresses and reliance on technology, it’s important to loosen up, dance, re-energize, and be happy! IDO partnered with Architex to create a truly “upbeat” garment, inspired by the people and activities that make us happiest….singing & dancing, friends & family, being in love, and our favorite way to express ourselves- emojis! Full of color and lively emoticons, this dress dances and moves evoking a new sense of positive energy as the model walks down the runway. It’s sure to put a smile on your face and a “pep” in your step!” IDO Team: Donna Metallic, Kris Kleinknight, Yvonne Rush, Lindsay Ferro, Kelsey Venekamp, Rhonda Wessel Model: Lee Boyland Sponsor: Kelli Detty, Architex Photo: Courtesy of Dan Binford & Associates
