Melinda Schiltz
Melinda graduated from Purdue University in May of 2000 and has dedicated the last 20+ years to designing spaces that are creative, functional, and unique to each customer. After graduation, Melinda joined CSO Architects and quickly moved from Design Associate in tenant finish design to Lead Designer in corporate and higher education design. Melinda’s ability to work with customers to uncover a vision and bring it to reality created many amazing projects such as Eli Lilly K147 and the Purdue Technology Center. After deciding to work part-time to be with her children, Melinda began work with Lynn Hynes Design Associates. She was able to gain experience in residential and healthcare design. Her love for creating spaces that live and breathe was a perfect fit for this type of design, especially on her favorite project the Pediatric Oncology Office at IU North Hospital.
In 2009, Melinda started her own interior design business, Rooted Structure Design, and began to build her resume with additional fields of design such as religious and hospitality. Growing up as a PK (preacher’s kid), going to church, and leaning on faith has always been a huge part of Melinda’s life. Her knowledge of how churches operate, her love for God, and natural creativity allowed Melinda to design extraordinary children’s spaces and the ability to bring old worship spaces in the modern era.
This understanding of space and diving deep into how each business functions is what inspires Melinda to design purposeful spaces that work wholly for each client. Melinda began working contract with Darwin Branded Environments in 2014. They designed and worked with small local start-up companies, like Convivo and Vibenomics, who wanted to fuze their brand and culture into their space. Melinda worked with DBE to design, and project manage these projects so that each company could grow their business and allow their product or employees to shine.
In 2019 Melinda returned to working full time and was recruited by IDO Incorporated. She brings experience, insight, and energy to the group. She loves working with a large team of talented designers again and has recently been promoted to Managing Associate. Melinda shares her vast knowledge of the design process, project management, and construction through training and mentoring to those around her. She is NCIDQ certified and a Registered Interior Designer (RID) with the state of Indiana. In her spare time, Melinda loves to hike and bike and hang out with her amazing husband and teenagers.
